Authenticity and honesty of movement are at the core of what I create. Movement that speaks truth to the subject matter and sparks thought and emotion in the beholder.

My choreography style is a fusion language that is constantly ever evolving. With a base in contemporary dance it also draws from experience in other styles such as Hip hopJazzJazz FunkHouseAfrican, and Ballet. The experience I have gained from my portfolio career has helped to further my understanding of what it takes to make work of a high standard and with integrity.

As a keen collaborator, I am always open to working with others and merging ideas when opportunity allows. Recently, I had a chance to develop my choreographic practice, thanks to the ACE DYCP grant. Through this experience, I have developed my own methods of generating material, accessing and understanding other artists' bodies and ways of moving and ways of letting others have space within my realm of creation whilst still maintaining my own voice. Extensive external research has been focused on subject matters that deeply resonate with me in order to better inform my choreographic voice and practice and to create from a place of authenticity.

Life itself is research and development, and it is my lifelong commitment to keep learning, growing and evolving in order to share and give back.

FINDING HOME [working title] is a new dance piece choreographed by Dak Mashava and supported by Arts Council England.

Exploring themes within queerness such as identity, ownership, fetishisation, masculinity and femininity, sexuality, gender expression, and relationships, all through the lens of being black and queer. This will also draw from lived experiences, as well as queer poetry and texts. The work is in its beginning stages of development off the back of the DYCP R&D process.

Working with the artists, Theo Canham Spence and Conn Williams, with support and mentorship from Lucy Suggate and Deane McQueen.

This piece is in development with a view to being presented in 2026.
